Former Queen of Ife Dedicates Humanitarian Award To Women Who Can't Be Tamed

Olori Wuraola, the former wife of the Ooni of Ife, was awarded the “Humanitarian Of The Year” award for “Kechie’s Project” at an event during the UN General Assembly week.

She shared the news on her Instagram page adding that her outstanding contributions to women and children across the globe earned her the award.
CNN anchor, Don Lemon, and former Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, were also awarded at the ceremony.
In her acceptance speech, Ms. Wuraola dedicated the award to women who "refused to be tamed and lived their life unapologetically."
Meanwhile,  the Ooni of Ile-Ife, Enitan Ogunwusi, has embarked on a seven-day seclusion exercise, which took off on Sunday.
This is preceding the 2017 Olojo Festival, which is the biggest annual festival in the cultural calendar of the ancient city.
By secluding himself, the Ooni separates himself from the people to cleanse his palace and himself of all the evil forces. After the cleansing, he leads the people to Okemogun shrine and renews his vows as a king.
It is also expected that the monarch unveils the new queen, who is said to be Olori Bolanle Ogunwusi at the festival this weekend. This is because the former queen had left the palace and officially declared that she is no longer the wife of the king.
The Ooni and Ms. Wuraola stepped out together for the Olojo Festival back in 2016.
Ms. Wuraola ended her 17-month-old marriage to the Ooni of Ife back in August, where she made an official statement on her Instagram page.

LASU Dispels 2017/2018 Admission Cut-Off Marks Rumour

The Lagos State University (LASU), has dispelled the rumour of a publication of its purportedly released cut-off marks for different courses and departments for the ongoing 2017/2018 admission exercise on the social media.
Mr Adekoya Martins, the Acting Head, Centre for Information, Press and Public Relations (CIPPR), told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday that the said publication was not from the information arm of the university.
Martins described the purported publication as “misleading” and warned the public to disregard it.
He disclosed that the university’s official cut-off mark for candidates to apply for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) screening had been put at 190.
“The public should kindly disregard the misleading publication and always check the university’s dedicated social media platforms for genuine and valid information about the institution,’’ he said.

Buhari Writes Paul And Peter: The Unity of P-Square Is Non-Negotiable By Emmanuel Ugwu

Dear Paul and Peter,
I have just been informed that one of you unilaterally announced the ‘split’ of the crisis-prone P-Square. That’s an act of self-determination. It is treasonable and worthy of classification as terrorism.
I recall that your late mother paid me a visit at my Daura home a couple of years ago. We shared dinner and discussed late into the night. And we agreed that the unity of P-Square would forever remain non-negotiable.
My aides told me that you 'separated' sometime last year, tasted uneventful solo musical careers, reconciled, and went back to making great music. I missed the story. Nigerian newspapers conspired to leave me in the dark by not doing cartoon impressions of the development. But you can’t try that secessionist stunt on my wide-awake watch.
You were made a group by fetal amalgamation. You were created twins. Your unity is a settled matter.
I am aware that your relationship has been dogged by rancor, discord and spite for a long while. You barely manage to function as one singing unit. Yet, you must endure the attrition and accept that you have been trapped by fate. You must continue to collaborate and conjure love songs from your shared bitterness.
None of you can go his separate way. You must stay together even though your group can hardly agree on anything except that you both mutually resent each other and can’t address the root cause of the contention.
I am told both of you are talented dancers. You must quickly return to the normal of hostile partnership. You don’t want my troops to teach you a lesson in Python Dance.
